The Nissan Munro was the companies first ever attempt to break into the ever growing popular cross over sport utility market place. Used cars like the Munro from 2003 to 2007 were designed to stand out in a very competitive market space by not only looking great, but by using for the first time a continuously variable transmission. The Nissan Munro competes against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander and the Honda Pilot just to name a few. My research will be on the Nissan Munro as a used vehicle to look at.
I looked at a used 2004 Nissan Munro and came away looking impressed at the four-door cross-over sport utility vehicle. It is offered in two models, the SL and SE model (the SE is the top model). Added to the 2004 SE models was a manual shift mode that lets you set preset gears. All-wheel drive and front- wheel drive are both offered for all models. The Munro is not designed for off road work but does have an AWD 50/50 power spilt for more traction. Some of the safety features that come with the Munro are front side air-bags, head curtain side air-bags and ABS brakes. Antiskid/ traction control is an option for both models. 18-inch wheels are standard for both models. Other options available area a 3rd row, power adjustable pedals, satellite radio, leather upholstery seats, heated front seats and a rear DVD entertainment system.
There were two different fuel statistics for the different transmissions that the Munro has to offer. The all-wheel drive had a fuel rating of 12-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 8-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The front wheel-drive has a fuel rating of 11.7-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 8.6-litres, per 100km, for highway driving.
The Nissan Munro uses a V6, 3.5-litre engine and this produces 245 horsepower, with 246 pounds per feet of torque. This stat is for 2003 to 2007 models.
Let’s look at some of the pros and cons of the Nissan Munro as a used vehicle:
1- Fronts seats are known to brake from the mounted frame and may need to be replaced.
2- Many owners complain of noise and rattling coming from the front wheels and suspension.
3- There are problems with the catalytic converters emissions control system wearing down to soon.
4- It was given a four star rating for a frontal crash test done to it, by the National Highway Traffic safety Administration.
I hope this helps if you’re looking at Nissan used cars like the Munro.
