Used cars like the second generation Kia Magentis has enjoyed a lot of praise for primarily being one of the best vehicles (new or used) for its cheap price tag and what you get with that cheap purchase. These second generation models are from the years 2006 to 2010, but the models from 2009 to 2010 seem to get the best reviews for driving experience and interior upgrades. The Kia Magentis competes in the midsize market place with such models like the Chevrolet Malibu, Honda Accord and the Hyundai Sonata just to name a few. My research will be on the Kia Magentis as a used vehicle to look at.
I looked at a 2009 Magentis and came away thinking it looks very much like a Hyundia Sonata. The 2009 Magentis comes in the LX, EX and SX models. This foor door sedan has many safety features that include, curtain side airbags, front side airbags, ABS brakes, traction control and antiskid brakes. Some available features that are options for the EX and SX models are heated seats, sunroof and remote engine start.
There are several different fuel statistics for the various engine sizes the Kia Magentis offers from 2006 to 2010. The four-cylinder (manual) engine has a fuel rating of 9.7-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.4-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The four-cylinder (Automatic) engine has a fuel rating of 9.6-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.3-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. In 2009 both transmissions had a fuel rating of 9.4-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.2-liters, per 100km, for highway driving. The 2009 V6 engine had a fuel rating of 10.5-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7-litres, per 100km for highway driving.
There are a couple of different engine sizes for the various models the Kia Magentis has to offer. From 2006 to 2008 there were two motors to choose from. The base model had a four-cylinder, 2.4-litre engine which produced 161 horsepower and the top models had a V6, 2.7-litre engine and this produced 185 horsepower. In 2009 the four cylinder engine upgraded to 174 horsepower and the V6 engine upgraded to 194 horsepower.
Let’s look at some of the pros and cons of the Kia Magentis as a used vehicle:
1- It was given an above average rating for reliability (as a used vehicle) from a leading online consumer watchdog.
2- There are complaints from owners that the brakes tend to wear down prematurely.
3- It was given a fiver star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a frontal and side impact crash tests done to it.
I hope this helps if you’re looking at Kia used cars like the Magentis.
